Skate School for Officers
SKATE SCHOOL FOR POLICE OFFICERS!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. THE APPLICATION PROCESS IS NOW CLOSED.
We are running a one-time skateboard workshop for police officers. We hope to provide Community Resource Officers, School Resource Officers, or officers from the general population with basic-to-intermediate skateboarding skills, a skateboard, and safety equipment. We are seeking 5 to 10 officers who would like to participate in four short, two-hour lessons from May 31st to June 28th. The workshop will be run by four qualified instructors—two teenagers and two adults—who will teach the participating officers the basics of skateboarding: balance, pushing, stopping, turning, ollie, and ramp riding. At the end of the course officers will keep their equipment and skateboards and will have the skills to confidently use the new skateboard parks in a meaningful way. We love the idea that officers can engage the city’s youth at the new skateboard parks as skaters. Ultimately, the hope is to create a sense of camaraderie between the City's police and the skateboard community. It is a small step towards a larger goal.
Session date and times are as follows:
