a hint of perennial magic… examined native and non-native weed species in relation to urban development in the community of Inglewood. Soil and seeds of native and invasive weed species were collected from constructions sites throughout the neighbourhood. The seeds were grown in the Esker Project Space throughout the exhibition. A water-filtration systems saw water move through the planter and into a potted snake plant. The shadow cast by the installation is a distorted reflection of the apartment building across the street that will be home to the snake plant. With this work, we wanted to create a conversation about land use and the de/naturalization of invasive species.
