Gone Today, Here Tomorrow
(2017 - 2018)
A botanical intervention into the Lougheed House developed during a three-month urban ecology residency. Native prairie grasses and wildflowers were installed and then photographed on 10 fireplace mantels throughout the house in a gesture to return these plants to the site. The photos were created with our friend Bryce Krynski. In spring 2018 we worked with garden volunteers to establish a permanent native grassland garden on a section of the grounds known as ‘The Pasture’. This area was left as undisturbed native prairie for animal grazing after the house was built in 1891.
